Open Source Software Foundry (OSSF)

OSSF is a component project of Taiwan Open Source Software Initiative and is carried out in the Institute of Information Science, Academia Sinica, Taiwan. The project is supported by Academia Sinica and Ministry of Economic Affairs. OSSF shares the visions and goals of related open source software efforts. You can find specifics about our missions and work at http://www.openfoundry.org.

We sincerely hope that you will participate in IOSESC 2006. We believe that the competition series is an effective way to help expand the breadth and depth of open source embedded software talents and expertise and are delighted to be the organizer and a sponsor of the competition. Taiwan National Science Council

The Taiwan National Science Council (NSC) is the highest government agency responsible for promoting excellence in research and education in science and technology. IOSESC 2006 is partially supported by an NSC-funded project “Embedded System Software and Open Source Software Competition Award and Promotion.” The goal of this project is to stimulate participation in open source software development in important application areas.

MontaVista Software

MontaVista leads in the development of innovative open source system software for embedded applications. MontaVista has participated and contributed to open source technologies in multiple software areas and for multiple markets, including advanced real-time capabilities in Linux, high availability support in Linux, high performance power management for Linux, high speed boot, system size reductions, and many other technologies. MontaVista performs more new architecture and new hardware enablement for Linux than any other commercial enterprise. MontaVista has an aggressive posture of developing and providing these types of technologies as open source components, as well as software fully integrated, tested and supported in commercial quality products.

MontaVista is pleased to support this competition, to encourage continued research and development in the area of open source system software. GNU/Linux software is the result of world-wide contributions and efforts, and market requirements demand continued need for innovation. We look forward to reviewing the contributions of all in this competition.
