 • Limitation on Platform or Applications?

Posted by marr at 2006-01-09 16:49
Q1)
Is there any limitation on development platform and tools
for the software? For instance, can I use Windows CE or other
commerical operating systems as the platform to develop my
system?

A1)
No, there is no limitation on hardware and software platform.
However, you and your team members must agree to release the
software and related documentations as open content work.
Except this, there is no other limitation on choosing platform
and development tools.

Each competing team in the final round will receive up to
15,000 NTD supplement for their hardware expenses. Furthermore,
up to five teams in the final round selected on the basis of
their proposals will be provided with MontaVista Linux and
development environment. MontaVista Linux is the supplemental
development tool provided by our sponsor. The competing teams
are not limited to use MontaVista Linux as their platforms.

Q2)
Does the theme of IOSESC 2006 be limited to applications
for car? For example, now I'm interested in developing VoIP
products, which could be potentially used in Auto PC.
Can I submit a proposal based on such cases?

A2)
The theme of IOSESC 2006 is automotive personal computer (Auto PC), not
limited to either cars or existing applications.
The criteria encourages you to use existing open source components as a
basis and build on top of that innovations of your own and well thought
out quality assurance plans and practices are equally important as good
architecture and design.
